Court Watch Montgomery
Court Watch Montgomery is a volunteer court monitoring program that observes protective order hearings in Montgomery County, Maryland, and publishes data on case outcomes, judicial patterns, and petitioner support.
Twenty-eight pages of legal analysis, completely undesigned.
A full report designed from scratch — cover to recommendations — ready to publish.
Twenty-eight pages of legal analysis: protective order outcomes, judge-by-judge variation, dismissal patterns, petitioner support, methodology, and policy recommendations. Dense, important, and completely undesigned. It needed to hold up under scrutiny and still be something a normal person could actually sit down and read.
The writing was already done. Nobody needed me to touch the analysis. What they needed was someone to take all of that content and make it look like the serious report it actually was.
That meant charts, section breaks, callout boxes, photography, and a layout system that could carry heavy content without burying the reader in it.
Every page was built around its content, not dropped into a template. The report needed a unified system — cover, section headers, recurring layouts, chart pages, callout boxes, photography placement, recommendation pages — that could hold dense material without making it feel like a wall of text.
The heaviest sections — methodology, findings, discussion, recommendations — got broken into scannable layouts. Charts and callouts surfaced the key patterns so readers could follow the thread without getting buried. The final file was prepped for publishing and distribution, launch-ready the day it was finished.
